“The quality of our lives is nothing but the quality of our emotions.” – Anthony Robbins

As well as choosing our mindset, we can also choose how we feel and respond to moments or events that crop up during the day.

It’s easy to forget that when you wake up, and as you steer your way through the day, you can consciously choose what mood you want to be in. Sometimes if we leave it all to chance, we can get carried away on a wave of mild negative emotions and thoughts, that can steer us to a shadier perspective as opposed to a brighter one.

Don’t get sucked in. Choose your mood and be deliberate about what you’re feeling.

Particularly important is choosing the right assortment of moods for the end of year break that is coming up. Avoid getting caught up in the festive frenzy, and be one of the few who stay calm and relaxed, especially if this is your first break from work for a while. Why waste it on getting stressed on Christmas stuff? It’s a bit like the busy cycle, you can choose to avoid it.

Bear in mind that no-one can make you feel anything. You can choose how you let people or things affect you.

Why not get ready to start a habit of consciously choosing how you feel – and make sure you include positive emotions that will have a deep effect on your wellbeing and relationships on a regular basis. A daily dose of gratitude, for example, will do this.

Why not decide now that for 2016, you’ll do more of what you love, more of what you enjoy, more of what helps you chill, more of what challenges you in a satisfactory way, and more of what helps you both in mind and body.

It’s in your hands, so make those conscious choices and changes to ensure you will be who you want to be in 2016.
